Premier parti pris fort, les directeurs artistiques ont souhaité revenir à une manifestation centrée sur les arts plastiques contemporains. Pour construire cette nouvelle édition, Alexia Fabre et Frank Lamy ont souhaité prendre pour point de départ les lieux eux-mêmes (parcs, théâtres, piscines, gymnases, universités, églises, écoles, cours, places…) sans chercher à définir a priori une quelconque thématique.
Nuit Blanche 2009 aura lieu dans la nuit du 3 au 4 octobre de 19h à 7h du matin.

Intervenciones luminicoarquitectónicas en la ciudad
Del 1 al 8 de octubre, desde la puesta de sol y hasta las 23 h se celebrará en Barcelona la segunda edición de LumoBCN.
Arquinfad orienta el festival LumoBCN ’09 hacia la iluminación de interior. Teniendo en cuenta el gran éxito de público que tuvieron los proyectos de la pasada edición, de mayor accesibilidad, hemos buscado, para éste año, un espacio fronterizo entre el interior y la calle y por eso hemos elegido el escaparate de los comercios como escenario deLumoBCN ’09.
El encencido inaugural será el día 1 de octubre a las 20.30 h, en el Cubo del FAD.

Urban Screens: the beginning of a universal visual culture

Abstract
Austrian statistician Otto Neurath wrote in 1925, “words divide, pictures unite.” In 1936 Neurath introduced a set of pictographic characters he called Isotype (International System of Typographic Picture Education) that he hoped would become a universal visual language and help unify the world. Traffic, airport, and Olympic competition sign designers owe their careers in large part to the efforts of Neurath and his staff. As we can see today by the examples shown and analysed in this special issue on urban screens, the unification of the world is happening literally in front of our eyes whether as similarly stylistic graffiti mural presentations or seven-story nanotech light shows projected on an infinite variety of urban substrates. Literal, narrative, horizontal, cloistered, and verbal culture is being replaced by symbolic, interactive, profound, global, and visual culture. Neurath would be pleased.

El 28, 29 y 30 de septiembre de 2009 se celebran estas jornadas dedicadas a reflejar las relaciones entre las pantallas urbanas y el espacio público en el que se integran, cuestionando los tipos de espacio, comunidades e interacciones personales que propician.
Jornadas dirigidas por la arquitecto Nerea Calvillo.
Con la participación de Mirjam Struppek (Interactionfield), Susa Pop (Public Art Lab), Jeffrey Huang(Media Design Lab), Kim Halskov (Digital Urban Living), Jan y Tim Edler (Realities United) y United Visual Artists (UVA).

The Nuit Blanche concept
Nuit Blanche (which means “sleepless night” or “white night” in French), is a cultural event that is both artistic and popular. This eighth edition of the event aims at (re)discovering or (re)conquering this urban environment from a new perspective.
It is a night to get together, to share unusual and creative aspects of the contemporary creative scene in a warm and festive atmosphere that encourages discovery and wonder.
Nuit Blanche is aimed at opening up the city to the world of the night, by encouraging access to numerous places for a wide audience. This approach really is open to the city, to its inhabitants and to creativity.

La fantasmagoría es un espectáculo iniciado tal ver por el alemán Johann Georg Schropfer en 1774, proyectando sobre gasas imágenes creadas con la linterna mágica, una especie de imágenes relacionadas con las apariciones. Pero fue Robertson un belga fascinado con estos juegos ópticos, quien finalmente sofisticó la linterna mágica y abrió un espectáculo Paris en 1778.
