Audiovisual installation by Joanie Lemercier
Projections onto a painted pattern
Inspired by the icelandic volcano, which wreaked travel havoc across europe earlier this year, Joanie Lemercier presents the latest incarnation of its audiovisual mapping project for the first time in London. Painted directly onto a large wall, a wireframed scenery is slowly revealed by gentle light effects. The audience’s sense are progressively challenged as optical illusions question their perception of space.

This project was initially developed during a onedotzero residency at EMPAC in the USA in April 2010.

“Light Butterflies” by Chiara Lampugnani Design is an innovative project displayed in Paolo Sarpi Street and Canonica Street in Milan as part of the the Milan International Led Light Festival (held from 4 December 2010 until 10 January 2011). Here is some information from the official press release: Inspired by the Butterflies Oasis based in Palestro Street in Milan, the light butterflies by Chiara Lampugnani are an homage to the beauty of Nature through the splendor and magic of light. A message to the city of Milan which is always in a hurry so that it may stop and think about the simple things of life through the eyes of a child. We salute this uncommon project and we consider it to be a great idea of urban regeneration that could be applied in different cities in order to bring streets and neighborhoods back to life.

At Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo we created a 30 second TV commercial for the launch of the new brand campaign ‘Google and more’ in Japan. It features the Image Search functions ‘sort by color’ and ‘similar images’ and shows that you can do more with Google than you imagined.

“Synaptic Passage” by Daniel Canogar is a monumentally-sized immersive installation created specially for “Brain: The Inside Story” at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, on view at the Museum until August 14, 2011. The shifting patterns of light projected onto over 500 kilos of repurposed cables evoke the nonstop communication that occurs among the brain’s dense, tangled forest of 100 billion, interconnected neurons.

The timeline depicts international media facades with their different artistic, social or brand messages up to interfaces like iPhone Apps or brain sensors for public participation. The movie is a shortened version of the lecture, “The semiotics of media facades – When buildings start to twitter” that was presented at the Parsons The New School for Design in New York in 2010.

London designer Simon Heijdens has applied a special film to windows at the Art Institute Chicago that creates constantly-changing shadows in response to weather conditions outside.
Each triangle in the grid is linked to sensors that monitor wind currents past the outside of the glass, causing the panels to change their level of opacity.
The projections are therefore constantly changing, depending on the wind conditions and path of the sun over the course of a day.
The installation is part of the Hyperlinks exhibition on show until 20 July 2011.

DJ Light is an immersive public sound and light installation that gives visitors the power to orchestrate an awe-inspiring performance of light and sound across a large public space. It was created for energy company Endesa as the cornerstone of their Christmas celebrations in Lima, Peru.
DJ Light is about the exhilaration of one person taking control over a massive space and manipulating the incredible array of light and sound within it using nothing more than their own body. It is an empowering experience where the public is invited to be the artist.
The installation consists of 85 giant globes of light, each capable of displaying millions of colours. As the “guest DJ” assumes their position on the podium, they can use their arms to point and gesture. These movements are translated in real-time into beautiful movements of light and generative sound across the space.
