BLIP’s new installation for the artist Daniel Canogar marks the opening of the Spanish Presidency of the EU. Between 28th and 30th December 2009 BLIP completed this major art installation in the Council of the European Union, Brussels.

timo arnall, jørn knutsen, and einar sneve martinussen have built a measuring rod for visualizing the immaterial wifi networks in cities. based on the idea of a surveyor creating maps, the trio’s work creates an abstracted cross section of the invisible networks and landscapes that are an integral part to how today’s cities function.
the 4m tall rod has 80 leds running the entire length that pulse and raise based on the strength of a selected wifi network. through time-lapse photography and three weeks in the grünerløkka area of oslo, norway, the pulsing lights create a physical representation of how different types of networks behave in their specific environments. the digital qualities we think of as network strength, consistency, and reach are shown as material manifestations reflecting the homes, businesses, and parks that the network is set up to serve.
the trio hopes to expand the research of these invisible landscapes to better understand our urban existence through other more widespread technologies including 3G, GSM and radio. martinussen is currently writing a book discussing how the interwoven nature of digital structures and physical environments directly effect people’s experiences on a material level.

Virtual Showcase 360 es una instalación multimedia provista de pantallas de alta definición en cada una de sus 4 caras.
En estas pantallas se muestra el videoarte resultante de la grabación simultánea de una modelo desde sus cuatro caras vistiendo nuevos iconos de la moda contemporánea. La imágenes pregrabadas son Vjeadas en directo por Rafaella Gnecco AKA Afi Oco, artista del panorama nacional de la fotografía y el videoarte.

Can technology replace natural being? Is the audience tired about standard presentations? Are we living in a time of hibrid artistic expresions where all different disciplines invade each others?
All those questions are what Forward Council raise to the audience through his multimedia instalation Virtual Showcase 360.
And just like that, it takes the most advanced international fashion design and reinterpret it from the videoart point of view, with the result of this rare display of virtual reality. One human figure beeing filmed simultaneously by 4 video cams, a digital processed material and a multimedia support to show them from all his angles.
